Active Prospect Limits

Active prospects are people currently enrolled in your sequences who are progressing through the steps. When we talk about the “active prospect limit,” we’re specifically referring to prospects in sequences that include LinkedIn steps.

By default, you can have 400 active prospects at the same time in sequences that contain LinkedIn steps. This limit is in place to help you stay within LinkedIn’s safety guidelines and avoid potential account restrictions.

LinkedIn allows approximately 100 connection requests per week. Over the course of a month, that equals roughly 400 connection requests. The active prospect limit is designed around this LinkedIn guideline to help protect your account from being flagged for excessive outreach activity.

By limiting the number of active prospects in LinkedIn sequences, Vaam ensures you don’t accidentally exceed LinkedIn’s weekly limits, which could result in temporary restrictions or other penalties on your LinkedIn account.

Only sequences with LinkedIn steps count toward your active prospect limit. This includes sequences with any of these LinkedIn actions:

  • Connection requests
  • LinkedIn messages
  • Profile visits
  • InMail messages

Email-only sequences and sequences without LinkedIn steps do NOT count toward this limit. You can have as many active prospects as you want in pure email sequences.

  • Counts toward limit: A sequence with LinkedIn connection request → Wait 3 days → LinkedIn message
  • Counts toward limit: A sequence with Email → Wait 2 days → LinkedIn connection request
  • Does NOT count: A sequence with only Email → Wait 2 days → Email → Wait 2 days → Email
  • Does NOT count: A sequence with only manual tasks or phone calls

When you try to add more prospects to LinkedIn sequences and you’ve already reached your limit of 400 active prospects, new prospects will be automatically placed in a “queued” status.

Don’t worry—you haven’t lost these prospects! Here’s what happens:

  1. Prospects are queued: New prospects wait in a queue instead of starting the sequence immediately
  2. Automatic activation: As existing prospects complete their sequences (or are canceled/paused), queued prospects automatically move to “active” status
  3. Daily sync: Vaam checks your active prospect count daily and moves queued prospects to active as space becomes available

This system ensures you’re always making the most of your available slots while staying within LinkedIn’s safe limits.

To see how many active prospects you currently have:

  1. Go to your Sequences page at https://app.vaam.io/sequences/active
  2. Filter by sequences with LinkedIn steps
  3. Count prospects with “active” status (or check the status summary)

You can also see queued prospects by filtering for the “queued” status.

The default limit of 400 is set to keep you safe within LinkedIn’s guidelines. However, in special circumstances, this limit can be adjusted:

  • Increasing the limit: Only recommended if you have LinkedIn Premium or Sales Navigator, which may have higher limits
  • Decreasing the limit: Useful if you want to be more conservative with your LinkedIn outreach

If you need to adjust your limit, please contact Vaam support. We’ll help you determine the right limit based on your LinkedIn account type and outreach goals.

  • Monitor your active count: Keep an eye on how many active prospects you have to avoid building a large queue
  • Sequence completion: Regularly review and complete or cancel old sequences to free up slots for new prospects
  • Stagger enrollment: Instead of adding hundreds of prospects at once, add them gradually over time

By understanding and working with the active prospect limit, you can maintain a healthy, sustainable outreach program that protects your LinkedIn account while maximizing your results.
