Reuse a video in several steps
You can set up a video once in a sequence and use it in several email and LinkedIn steps. When you change that video later, you choose whether the change applies to every step that uses it or only to the step you edit.
Saved videos belong to one sequence. Other sequences do not see them. When you clone a sequence, its saved videos follow the same rules as other videos. See Cloning a sequence. Only videos can be reused. The text of an email or message cannot.
Use a saved video in a step
Section titled “Use a saved video in a step”- Open the step in the sequence editor. The message must have a
{video}or{vaam}tag. - Open the Saved video list and select the video by its name.
- Check the selected video below the list. It shows a picture from the video, the name, the type and how many steps use it.
- Select Save.
The Saved video list shows only after the sequence has at least one saved video. To see or change the settings of the selected video, select Edit video.
The type of a saved video is one of these:
- Same video for everyone: one recording that every prospect gets.
- Personalized on the LinkedIn profile or Personalized on the website: a video that Vaam makes for each prospect. See Automatic personalized video.
- , with an added video after a personalized type: the personalized video has a second part. See Combine two videos.
Set up a new video
Section titled “Set up a new video”- Open the step. If the step shows the Saved video list, select New config next to it.
- Set up the video as usual. For a personalized video, see Automatic personalized video.
- Optional: type a name in Name for this video. If you leave it empty, Vaam names the video automatically, for example “Video 2”.
- Select Save.
Prospects never see the name. It only helps you find the video in the editor. The title of a personalized video, which prospects do see, is a separate setting of the video.
If a video recorded by someone else needs your confirmation before you can use it, the step asks for it the same way as before.
Change a video that several steps use
Section titled “Change a video that several steps use”To change the selected video, select Edit video. When you change a video that more than one step uses, the step asks: “This video is used in N steps. Apply your change to:”
- Edit all N uses: every step that uses the video gets the change.
- Make a copy for this step: Vaam saves your change as a new video for this step only. The other steps keep the old video. You can give the copy a name in Name for this video.
Choose one, then select Save. If you save without a choice, the step shows “This video is used in N steps. Choose how to apply your change.”
When only one step uses the video, your change updates that video directly.
Rename a video
Section titled “Rename a video”- Open a step that uses the video, or select the video in the Saved video list.
- Select Rename next to the name of the selected video.
- Type the new name and select Save name.
The new name is saved at once, also if you close the step afterwards without saving.
Unused videos
Section titled “Unused videos”A video stays in the sequence when no step uses it anymore, for example after you remove the video from a step or delete a step. It stays in the Saved video list, and you can use it again later.
To delete an unused video:
- Open a step with a
{video}or{vaam}tag. - Select the More video actions menu (⋯) next to New config. The menu shows only when the sequence has an unused video.
- Select Delete and the name of the video.
- Select Delete video to confirm, or Keep to stop.
The video is deleted at once. Only a video that no step uses can be deleted.
What Save and Cancel do
Section titled “What Save and Cancel do”Your choice of video waits until you select Save. If you select Cancel before that, Vaam discards the choice. A rename or a delete is different: it is already saved when you confirm it.
When you select Save, Vaam saves the video first and the rest of the step after that. If the rest of the step cannot be saved, the step stays open with your changes and shows “Could not save the latest step changes.” The video change stays saved, also if you then select Cancel. Check the step and save it again.
When someone else changes the sequence at the same time
Section titled “When someone else changes the sequence at the same time”If the sequence or the video changed while you edited the step, Vaam does not save your video change. The step shows “The sequence changed while you edited it. Check the video below, then save again.” or “This video changed in the meantime. Check it and save again.”
Check the video that the step shows now, choose again if you need to, and select Save a second time.
What prospects get
Section titled “What prospects get”A change to a saved video applies to the steps that prospects have not received yet, in the same way as any other change to a sequence. Prospects who already received a step keep the video they got. See What happens when I update a sequence.
Personalized videos in manual LinkedIn steps
Section titled “Personalized videos in manual LinkedIn steps”Personalized videos are not supported in manual LinkedIn steps. Use a personalized video in an automatic LinkedIn step or in an email step.
