Use Google Calendar widget in your video

To successfully embed a booking calendar in Vaam, you need to:

  1. Set Up an Appointment Schedule in Google Calendar

    • In Google Calendar, create an appointment schedule (Create → Appointment schedule)
    • This is different from the older appointment slots feature, which cannot be embedded
    • Appointment schedules are available with most Google Workspace plans and personal Google accounts
  2. Get Your Google Calendar Booking Link

    • Open your appointment schedule and click Share, then copy the booking page link
    • The link should follow this format: https://calendar.google.com/calendar/u/0/appointments/schedules/[scheduleId]
  3. Add the Widget to Your Video

    • Go to the share page for your video
    • Below the video player, click the Add widget button on the right
    • Click New widget from the list that appears
    • Select Google Calendar from the calendar service dropdown
    • Paste your Google Calendar booking link in the calendar link field
    • Click Add
    • The button label will update to “Google Calendar” to confirm the widget was added successfully
  4. Test the Integration

    • Click “Preview” in Vaam to see how recipients will view your video
    • Verify that the calendar widget displays and is functional

Problem: Calendar Doesn’t Show in the Widget

Section titled “Problem: Calendar Doesn’t Show in the Widget”

Symptom: Calendar doesn’t display in the Vaam widget

Solution: Google Calendar offers two different scheduling features, and only one can be embedded in Vaam. Make sure you’re using the correct link type:

Appointment Slots (Cannot Be Used)

  • The older scheduling feature, only available on some Workspace plans
  • Appointment slots don’t provide a standalone booking page that supports iframe embedding

Appointment Schedules (Can Be Embedded)

  • Format: https://calendar.google.com/calendar/u/0/appointments/schedules/[scheduleId]
  • These booking pages support iframe embedding and will display correctly in Vaam widgets

Symptom: Widget space shows but no calendar content

Solution: Make sure the booking page is publicly accessible. In your appointment schedule settings, confirm the page is shared publicly and doesn’t require recipients to sign in to a specific Google Workspace organization.

Problem: Recipients See a Sign-In or Access Error

Section titled “Problem: Recipients See a Sign-In or Access Error”

Symptom: Visitors are asked to log in or are told they don’t have access

Solution: This usually means the appointment schedule is restricted to your organization. Open the schedule’s sharing settings and allow anyone with the link to book.
